Baubles and Bubbles 2011
Last week I attended for the fourth year Junior Woman's Club of Columbia's Baubles and Bubbles fundraiser. Although I couldn't stay long (we were leaving for the beach the same night) I enjoyed getting to see some of my girlfriends and dancing a little! Photobooth was back again this year so we had a terrific time playing "dress up" for it as you can see from the pics.

Summer Social Fiesta
As Provisional Vice President for Junior Woman's Club of Columbia, I planned (with a LOT of help!!!) our summer social to present the club to potential new members. We chose a "Fiesta" theme and had a taco bar, a variety of taco dips and desserts! It was absolutely yummy and great fun with old and new friends!

the sombreros were a HIT! Marisa, me and Paula

Good Times!
With this being my last full week off before school, I have been both lazy and productive! I've been on a cleaning spree the last few days and I replanted patio and front porch flowers at Glenn's house so they would be set when he gets home Sunday. I can't believe I am saying this but in addition to loving to cook anymore, I also love planting! (Although I think I might be allergic to the potting soil I used...I have a rash on my arm now!)

Fun stuff this week has included the first JWC Board meeting for the year on Tuesday night at our Headquarters. We got lots of great info about the club year and Baubles and Bubbles, our annual fundraiser. It was a LONG meeting, but great to see the girls!
Stephanie reading to us at Board meetingThen last night I had the girl's come over to hang out. We lit the tiki torches and the new "umbrella candle ring" that I LOVE! It was a blast just hanging out with some of my favorite girls! It was especially fun to have my friend, Wendy, who I used to teach with in Boiling Springs and who just moved down here to come. I haven't seen her in so long!!

Baubles & Bubbles '09
Last Thursday, the night before my surgery, the culmination of a lot of hard woek took place in the form of Baubles & Bubbles. This is the major fundraiser, for Palmetto Place Children's shelter, hosted by Junior Woman's Club of Columbia. I love this event because it is for such a great cause and it is so much fun!!!This year was no exception and even with a very painful, pre-surgery broken finger, I had a blast. After it was over, the dj stayed until 11:30 for a group of us and we honestly danced until we dropped. I was on the event committee and the Hilton offered us all rooms, so I stayed there and my friend, Mary stayed with me.
One of the highlights for me was seeing Mary Beth (I met her at the Aiken Steeplechase in the fall) and finally meeting Carrie, a mutual friend of several of my friends that I have gotten to know through our blogs!!
What a great night!!!!

City Girls in the Country
Each month Junior Woman's Club of Columbia takes kids from the shelter we sponsor on an outing. Thanks to my friend Paula's great recommendation, we ended up at Country Adventures for a day on the farm. So, here were all these city girls in the country.
I loved the little fence-walking and fence-jumping goat
the sweet Pygmy goat
Williesha, Sara and Stephanie
City girl's love tractors!
JWC girls with the farm owner's daugther
farm pigs
this guy knows what holiday is coming!

Junior Woman's Club
This past week was super-duper busy. Monday night I had a new/potential member orientation for Jaycees, Tuesday was Veteran's Day, Wednesday night was the meet and greet and Thursday night was the monthly JWC meeting.
I always love seeing some of my favorite girls at this meeting. Stephanie, Jamie, Paula, Sarah and I always grab a table together and just have a great time talking, laughing and enjoying. Last night was no exception!

Travinia --- Good Fun, Good Friends, Good Fun!
Junior Woman's Club of Columbia founded Palmetto Place Children's Shelter quite a few years ago. As such it is, we are still a major funding source for the shelter. (You might remember pictures and a post about Baubles and Bubbles, our big event, last February.) The shelter also has a dessert competition each spring and a golf tournament in the fall. Today was golf tourney day and to kick it off last night a dinner and silent auction was held at Travinia.
My friend, Marisa, is currently the shelter's director (she's leaving in December to move to Charlotte...good for her since she'll be with Thomas, her husband; bad for us as we are really going to miss her at Bunco and other events) and several us went early to help her set up and then stayed for to help her at the end of the auction. It was a great time and I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with two of my favorite girls, Elizabeth and Paula. The three of us and Marisa (when she wasn't working!) had a BLAST!
