Great Spring Break Road Trip - Day 7

We got up very early on Saturday morning and got on the road to our last big stop on the trip....NEW ORLEANS!  Glenn had warned me that he didn't think I would like NO.  However, I fell in love with it immediately.  I describe it as Charleston without the snootiness.

After checking into our Canal Street hotel we walked to The Pearl on St.Charles for lunch which was our very first ever muffaletta. It was yummy!  We then caught the famous St. Charles streetcar to the Garden District for a walking tour.  It was wonderful.  We saw homes that belong/belonged to Anne Rice, Trent Reznor, John Goodman, Sandra Bullock and the Manning family.  We had a terrific tour guide who was very knowledgeable and entertaining.  We took the streetcar back to the French Quarter for our next tour.  To kill time until it started we strolled Bourbon Street taking in all the (crazy, wild, unique) people and sights. Our French Quarter tour was really good, too, although our guide wasn't as good.  We took in many homes, side streets, the Ursuline Convent, saw a second line parade for a wedding, checked out the windows at Cafe Du Monde, Lafayette Park, St. Louis Cathedral, the riverfront and so, so much more.

Following the tour Ben and I had dinner at River's Edge (delicious crawfish pot pie) and bought cafe au lait/hot chocolate and beignets at Cafe Du Monde.  We strolled Decauter Street shops on our way back to the hotel where we were ready for some rest from a LONG, but fabulous day!
