Great Spring Break Road Trip - Day 8 (and 9)

Easter morning we woke up in New Orleans! On our last (official) day of our trip, we got up and enjoyed the Cafe du Monde leftovers before walking to Lafayette Square, where we hoped to see the Easter Carriage parade. Unfortunately, the times we had received were off and we missed it.  So we strolled around and actually even tried to get into St. Louis Cathedral (the oldest still in use church) but could only grab a glimpse of the beautiful cathedral through the crowds.

We walked to Bourbon Street for lunch at Pat O'Brien's before searching out our spot for the Easter Parade.  This was our first NO parade and even though it wasn't Mardi Gras, it was really cool.  We caught tons of beads, a rose and the cutest little stuffed pink puppy!  Ben and I had a blast!  And, in NO, they take Easter serious....seersucker, fancy dresses and hats galore.  After the parade we trekked to the Riverwalk, which was totally dead.   After a fantastic and wonderful trip, we started our journey home.

Unfortunately, I started not feeling good (turned out it was a sinus and ear infection) and we drove as far as Auburn, AL.  We got up on Monday and arrived home mid afternoon.  This was such a wonderful trip and I hated to see it end.  Ben and I thoroughly enjoyed everything we did and saw.  And, I hope that we will have the opportunity to take another road trip before he gets "too old"!
