It's Friday Night...in Las Vegas

When we got back to Las Vegas we were ready to celebrate Ruben's birthday!!! It started with the most awesome sushi ever (think POP ROCK SUSHI...yes, POP ROCKS!!!) at YellowTail in the Bellagio. We had tickets to a Cirque de Soleil show at New York, New York and had to head there shortly after dinner. It was, shall we say, interesting. We were walking to our seats when I was pulled on stage as part of the pre-show.....

After the show we met back up with Ruben at the Casino in Monte Carlo. I described Vegas as "Disney World for Adults" the entire time we were there. Everything was over the top, larger than life, gimmicky....and I wanted to go to, probably, the biggest gimmick of all. I had seen the "ice hotels" on TV (Amazing Race, maybe??) and that company has "ice lounges" in Vegas. Everything inside is made of ice and the temp is Minus 5 (celcius), hence the name. It is so cold that you have to pay (an exorbiant amount....Vegas....) to rent boots, gloves and a coat. I talked Glenn and Ruben into VIP packages which included fur coats, Russian-type keepsake hats and a photo. Did I mention you can't take a camera in because it is so cold?? It was definitely neat. I would most likely never go again. But, the tables and chairs were ice. Cups were ice. And the ice sculptures of polar bears, bulls, Mt. Rushmore and the famous Vegas sign were unbelievable. It was a true "only in Vegas" place!

I think the birthday for Ruben and last night for Glenn (its a long story, but we won a free plane ticket at a fundraiser which required a Saturday night stay...for me!) was memorable!
