USC/Arkansas

With a 1:00 game time, our game day started early on Saturday morning! I was up at eight to start cooking a breakfast casserole as we were planning a breakfast tailgate before the game. Ron joined me shortly to start prepping and packing his end of things --- pancakes!

We got to where we park (right outside Carolina Walk Park to make transporting inside easier) around 9:45 and waited for Christy and Kent to arrive. As we waited, I noticed our friend Forest (who recently moved to Cheraw) in the lot across the street. So, we talked to him through the fence while we waited. When they got there we unloaded the car and fired up the griddle! By two hours before game time, we were eating GOOD --- sausage, bacon, pancakes (w/blueberries and pecans), sausage biscuits, casserole and a bit of some YUMMMYYYY shrimp 'n grits from some nearby tailgaters. It was AWESOME!

Mike arrived in time to grab some food and then he, Ron and I headed off to the game. What a game!! We got there during the National Anthem and the fly-by, found our seats and settled in. It was a great win over the Razorbacks.

The greatest start in college football ---- 2001!

Teeny-tiny picture of Michael Phelps ---he is almost at the 20 yard line in black shorts and white shirt (next to a guy in red shirt and khakis) One neat thing was that Michael Phelps was at the game! He was across the field so we didn't get a good look in person, but we had a great view on the screen. We left mid way through the fourth quarter and headed back for the post-game tailgate.

This time around we had Bojangles chicken and biscuits, chicken salad and pimento cheese rolls, basil-pesto bowtie pasta and Ron's griddle Quesdillas -- which were a HUGE hit.

We had a terrific time after the game, but the highlight was meeting RADIO!!!! The "Radio" from the movie...the real one! It was awesome! He and the caretaker who brought him to the game -- his first ever Gamecock game--joined us to tailgate for a while and he let us take pictures with him. He was SO sweet --- he kept shaking my hand and hugging me and telling me what a good time he had at the game. It was quite an honor to meet him!

It was a wonderful final home game and a terrific last tailgate for the '08 season. However, the season isn't over -- two games to go and a BOWL!!!! GO COCKS!!!
