The Big Apple

Each August Glenn has an Associated Pest Management Conference and this year we left on the Monday after I returned from the DR (on Saturday!) for NYC!   This as my first trip and it was wonderful!  Both sets of my in laws were there as well as our friends Karen and David from Virginia and many other pest control friends.

Our week was so busy! When we arrived and checked in we headed out for lunch at an Italian Restaurant and walked the areas around TImes Square and 5th Avenue.  We ended up at the Empire State Building, where we waited in a long line to go to the top.  Glenn's mom and Fred arrived that afternoon and we all headed to Central Park for dinner at The Boathouse, a walk through the park, a carriage ride and then a walk through the Plaza Hotel back to our hotel.

Tuesday we got up very early for an exhausting, but exciting day.  We took a bus to Brooklyn, where we walked around the neighborhood near the bridge before walking back to Manhattan across the bridge....so awesome!!! We then did a LONG walking tour of lower Manhattan through Wall Street and the 911 Memorial.  Tuesday ended with dinner (with Vickie and Fred) at the Russian Tea Room followed by seeing "Book of Mormon" on Broadway.  (I hated it.)

Wednesday, while Glenn went to his conference, Fred, Vickie, Karen and I joined other "spouses" for brunch at Norma's and a tour of Museum of Modern Art. There we saw Dali's, Van Gogh's "Starry Night" and, my favorite, a Jackson Pollock to name a few.  We followed this up shopping and walking on 5th Avenue and the Associated Cocktail Hour before dinner at Sparks Steakhouse with both sets of in laws.

By Thursday I was absolutely exhausted from my previous week and the early business of this trip.  We spend most of the day at the hotel resting...venturing out for lunch and then later for dinner at La Silhoutte and "Wicked" with Fred and Vickie.  "Wicked" was FABULOUS!! One of the highlights of the trip for me.

Our last day, Friday, we met Glenn's dad and Belinda at Saks for some early Christmas shopping.  Then, Glenn and I met up with Karen at Starlight Diner, where the food was very good and the waitstaff was very entertaining...singing while we ate!  Friday night the Associated group went to the Top of the Rock (roof of Rockefeller Center) for the beautiful sunset views of the city. Afterwards, Karen and David, Fred and Vickie, Tim, Glenn and I took cabs to Tribeca for dinner at Tribeca Grille, Robert DeNiro's restaurant.  The food was good, but I was a little disappointed in the waitstaff.

Saturday morning we took a walk back through Times Square and had lunch before heading off to the airport and starting our last trip of the summer's final trip home!
