I'm really not sure where to start about my trip to the Dominican Republic. It was the best trip, best week I have ever spent anywhere and did things I never thought I would do and made friends that I never imagined making. It was an amazing trip.
I tried to back out up until time to leave the church parking lot and Glenn refused to let me! By the time our flight got to Miami and we were delayed due to a plane issue and a gentleman got THROWN off the flight and we arrived after midnight in the DR to go through customs and travel to the school/orphanage I was begging Glenn to send me a ticket home. By Monday night, I loved it. Come Friday I didn't want to leave the next day and now I'm ready for NEXT summer's trip!
There are so many stories and things I could tell about the trip....the fabulous people, the sweet children, the poor neighborhood, the camaraderie of new friends, but it is truly hard to explain most of it to people who were not there. Here, though, is a quick rundown of what we did. We toured Santo Domingo and visited the beach (separate post), filed and painted rebar on the (will be the third floor next summer) roof, painted classrooms and exterior walls, redid the playground, retiled the preschool classroom and more!
