39th Birthday Recap

My birthday weekend actually started on Wednesday night.  Belinda, and a few folks we know at the beach: Marsha, Larry and Stoney (unfortunately, Mary was sick) had a little celebration at Aspen Grille.  It was very sweet and the owner/chef had a card for me and there was also live music with their piano player and his accompanying soloist.

Glenn arrived Thursday afternoon and brought with him my present....a Kindle Fire!  I had requested to have dinner at Collector's Cafe, my favorite, however we were celebrating there on Friday night with his dad, Belinda, and Ben.  Marsha recommended the "private booth" at Sea Blue.  Neither of us had been there and it was absolutely wonderful!  First off the booth is hidden behind a screen in a side corner of the dining room...really cool.  We had caprese salads (made with Sea  Blue's homemade mozzarella...yummmmm) and lobster and truffle mac and cheese for starters.  Glenn had a lobster/shrimp over risotto that was so good, while I had fantastic crab cakes with sea salt fries.  We finished with a slice of warm chocolate gelatto cake and ice cream. They even put in a candle and took pictures for us!

On Friday, after my swimming lesson, Ben, Glenn and I spent the rest of the day in the pool playing and practicing my swimming.  It was hot and sunny, but lots of fun.  Friday night we all went to Collector's for dinner.  It was always the absolute best atmosphere and the food is divine!

Our friend, Ruben, arrived on Saturday and after lunch and setting up of my Kindle Fire (courtesy of his phone hotspot) the four of us headed to the pool for the entire afternoon. (Where we spent a LOT of time playing with my underwater camera...Glenn and Ben had a blast filming themselves jumping in!) We decided to shower and eat early because we wanted to try Bimini's, a seafood place near us that gets super-duper busy by 5 p.m. on the weekends.  The food there was delicious, too!!  I had my favorites: conch fritters and fried oysters, followed by Key Lime pie!  We spent the rest of the evening having a good time.  I tried my hand at golf on a simulator (didn't go so well...this may not be my sport) and walked around Broadway at the Beach.

Sunday finished off the weekend.  Glenn and Ruben went out for lunch and I joined Belinda over at Maison's for their afternoon music on the patio.  All in all, it was a terrific birthday weekend at the beach!
